Praise Cathedral is joining other churches and disaster relief organizations to rebuild Jamaica. Aside from money, there are also practical things that Jamaicans will need.
We start collecting on Wednesday November 12. Collections of needed items will take place: after church on Sundays; on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday through Friday during office hours.
See the full post for the specific list, PDF flyer and schedule of when to bring items to Praise Cathedral.
On October 28, Jamaica was struck by Hurricane Melissa, a catastrophic Category 5 storm — the strongest ever recorded in the nation’s history. Entire communities have been devastated: homes flattened, roads washed away, countless families left without shelter, food, or clean water and many churches demolished. The people of Jamaica are facing unimaginable hardship, and now, more than ever, they need our compassion and support to rebuild their lives and their country.
You can make a real difference by contributing to ongoing relief efforts. Every donation, regardless of size, helps provide emergency shelter, medical aid, food supplies, rebuilding of churches and long-term recovery assistance for those affected. Volunteer organizations are working tirelessly on the ground. But they cannot do it alone. Here are two ways to do it.
There are several activities at Praise Cathedral Worship Centre this autumn through the end of 2025. Please update your calendars, phones, or wherever you schedule your events.
See the Praise Autumn 2025 e-newsletter.
Some proceeds from the 2025 Praise Cathedral 20th Anniversary gala will go toward supporting post-hurricane recovery efforts in Jamaica.
During the month of March in 2025, more than 720 different visitors looked at our Praise web site about 1,700 times.
Web visitors from Canada, obviously, are the dominant group who come to our web site. American viewers make up about five percent of our monthly visitors. Web visitors from Jamaica look at our site more than 100 times in a typical month.
Praise Cathedral is building a Memorial Wall to honour the Mothers whose lives grace our memories after being called Home. Please go to the post, and click or tap the button to contribute your information about a mother or grandmother whose life you may wish to celebrate on the Praise Cathedral Mothers’ Day Memorial Wall.
Bishop Lennox Walker, Lead Pastor at Praise Cathedral Worship Centre, was honoured by Jamaica with the Order of Distinction (rank of Officer) by Hon. Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica. The Order took effect as of Jamaica’s Independence Day, August 6, 2020. The virtual investiture happened in October of 2021. A special presentation for Bishop Lennox Walker took place at Praise Cathedral on Sunday November 22, in our 11:00 a.m. service, attended by the Jamaica Consul General in Toronto, Mr. Lincoln Downer.
You can see our virtual service on YouTube Live at the Praise Cathedral channel.
