Pastor appreciation

Pastor appreciation

Saying thanks for leadership

And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.1 Thessalonians 5: 12

Pastors take on the shepherd’s role by keeping their flock intact and protecting it from predators. It is their responsibility to seek after the Lord so that he is fed with God’s knowledge and understanding, in order to lead His people. For more than 25 years, Bishop Lennox Walker and his family have helped shepherd our church, protecting us and making sure we learn the Word of the Lord. Bishop and Lady have worked to carry out the message and wisdom of Christ to our congregation, here at Praise Cathedral.

Each year we pause to appreciate and recognize the outstanding leadership to the church and the wider community of Bishop Lennox Walker and Lady Dorett Walker. At this appreciation service, we acknowledge that:

  • While our pastor may be tired, he never fails to show up when called;
  • Bishop Walker counsels and console us when we suffer the loss of a loved one, or have trouble in our homes;
  • Bishop and Lady Walker share our accomplishments as though they are theirs;
  • Bishop Walker speaks with courage and strength to our souls, amid our situations, because he trusts God, and teaches us to do likewise;
  • Bishop Walker is never too busy for us, and makes time, or takes time, to give us what we need from him;
  • We love him, and we recognize all our Praise leaders as a gift from God.

As Paul declares in 1 Thessalonians 5, let us show honour to those who lead. On October 20, as a church family, we pause to esteem our pastor and family highly in love for their work’s sake.
